Harmonic and melodic innovations…

…characterise the French composer Gabriel Fauré.

But the connection between Fauré and ITMP is not innovation but passion and sisu.

The 2010 ITMP students were particularly musical. We had a composer and two singers. This I discovered at their December 2009 ITMP Christmas party when all three put on an impromptu performance.  Since then, they have continued (independently) to follow their musical passions… in parallel with their professional careers.

This time, when I got the invitation to the concert I decided « no excuses – go! »

The St Clothilde choir must have worked hard all year to put on such a perfect performance of Fauré’s Requiem last Wednesday in the St Clothilde Basilica in Paris.

At the heart of it was the choir. At the heart of the choir were the sopranos and at the heart of the sopranos was our former ITMP student.

I closed my eyes, listened to the heavenly music and forgot all about innovation.
