I really like Mamane’s second article with the idea of walking around and imbuing yourself with the problem. The term for this is Gemba. It reminds me of when the workers who were to produce the first Lexus models in the late 80s started by going to the exlusive golf clubs in the Tokyo area and running their hands over the bodywork of Rolls Royces, Bentleys and sundry Jaguars to feel the quality of quality cars.
